The eagerly awaited match-ups in round five of the Indonesian Open 2013 were the top board encounters between GM Alexey Dreev (3.5) and the tournament leader GM Ivan Ivanisevic (4) and between GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly and GM Hoang Thanh Trang.
Ganguly could make no headway against Hoang while GM Alexander Moiseenko by winning against GM Shyam Sundar M, and GM Sandro Mareco against IM Tirta Chandra Purnama, were both able to join them on 4/5.
Dreev however proved too strong for Ivanisevic and with his win he is now the sole leader with 4.5/5.
In shared second to seventh places, half a point behind, are therefore Moiseenko, Ivanisevic, Ganguly, Mareco, Shyam Sundar, and Hoang.
With no less than 20 other players on 3.5/5, the majority getting there after fighting to a standstill, tomorrows rounds six and seven will no doubt prove to be every bit as competitive and exciting as the first five have been!
