Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya

Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya is the venue of the Indonesia Open 2013. The 5-star hotel of Jakarta is going to host this year’s event.

The Location

Strategically located at Jalan Jendral Sudirman 86, Jakarta Pusat, in the Jakarta Central Business District, the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel created a new and distinct impression when it was re-launched in 2009 with its innovative and unique aluminium composite “Batik Sidomulyo” architectural covering. This metallic sheath raised the application of traditional design style to a new level by the application of modern materials.

The Lobby

A spacious grand lobby now adorns the entrance to the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel. With raised ceilings to accommodate giant crystal chandeliers and a dome, which incorporates a dramatic glass painting depicting various natural elements with Hastabrata inscriptions. The area is more luxurious than ever with a new front office counter and murals reflecting the arts and crafts of central Java.

A New Concept

“Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel has undergone several improvements in recent months, the most outstanding being the renovation of the building and facilities. The off-white metallic facade immediately gives a dramatic modern feeling and compliments the new canopy area leading to the elegant lobby foyer. This modern use of materials with perforated metal to display the “Sidomulyo” Batik pattern adds a new dimension to traditional Indonesian design.

Other elements of Indonesian culture are featured throughout the hotel including a relief at the front of the building depicting the “Palapa Pledge” which tells the story of Mahapatih Gajah Mada, a famous Indonesian hero who successfully united the country. Other elements of Javanese heritage abound, including Gebyok Kudus in the lobby, Sidomulyo Batik design elements and cowhide puppets portraying the legend of Pandowo Limo are displayed using digital printing, tempered ice-glass or etching.

This new concept in interior and exterior design not only achieves a new atmosphere for the hotel but also instils a new spirit for all employees, who are inspired to serve guests to the standards expected of a “Five-star” hotel. Everyone at Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel is committed to making the guest experience a pleasurable, elegant and as exclusive as possible. Using the best traditions of Indonesian hospitality with modern levels of service, we all strive to achieve three service elements – to be smart, clean and stylish”.
